Your child's learning and development

Your child's learning and development

We provide a range of opportunities and interactive experiences to support and enhance your child’s development.

At Kinder Castle we are committed to providing your child with new experiences that challenge and build upon developing skills.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum (EYFS) which is published as guidance for practitioners working with children aged from birth to five. We have an Early Years Teacher who works alongside all staff to provide guidance and support on the delivery of this across all age groups. Key workers plan, adapt and extend activities to suit individual children’s needs, recording them in individual learning diaries. These formative years are crucial in developing children’s brains and helping to make those important early connections.

We use an online learning journey system, Tapestry, which gives parents instant access to their child’s development file. Parents can also use Tapestry to upload special moments they share at home to help build a holistic view of their child’s learning and experiences throughout these special years. When your child leaves Kinder Castle all pictures, videos and observations are downloaded and given to you to keep.

Your child’s learning and development is planned for and tracked to ensure that they are achieving in all areas within the EYFS.

Transitions between the rooms are gradually introduced to children through visits into the next room in small groups. Staff support and aid transitions by getting to know all children and families who join Kinder Castle, helping to reinforce that home from home environment.

We offer a safe and nurturing home-from-home environment

Key workers plan, adapt and extend activities to suit individual children’s needs.

The prime areas are:

  • Communication and Language
  • Physical Development
  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development

These areas are essential for your child’s healthy development and future learning. As your child grows, the prime areas will help them to develop skills in four specific areas.

These are:

  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the World
  • Expressive Arts and Design

Overall, these seven areas used to plan your child’s learning and activities. Our team of professionals supporting your child will ensure these activities are suited to your child’s unique needs, play styles and interests, with ample opportunity for spontaneity and flexibility.
